01 / Waist · flat width
Fasten the jeans. Bring the front and back waistband edges level and smooth them flat. Measure straight across, edge to edge. Enter this width once; do not double it.
VIKTR MARTIN / Fit guide
Start with jeans you already love wearing. A flexible tape, a flat surface and a few careful measurements help us understand your fit.
Choose a pair with the fit you want. Empty the pockets, fasten the fly and unroll the hems. Lay them flat, smooth wrinkles and avoid pulling the denim. Measure twice. Use either inches or centimeters throughout your request.
Garment widths are measured flat and entered once. Body measurements go around you. Never substitute a size label for a tape measurement.
Diagrams illustrate measurement locations on a jeans silhouette and are not to scale. The Martins denim photograph shows the reference style.
Fasten the jeans. Bring the front and back waistband edges level and smooth them flat. Measure straight across, edge to edge. Enter this width once; do not double it.
Lay the seat flat. Measure horizontally across the widest part of the seat, edge to edge. Note how far below the top waistband you placed the tape in your fit notes.
With the front facing up, follow the center-front seam from the crotch seam intersection to the top of the waistband. Include the waistband.
Turn the jeans over. Follow the center-back seam from the same crotch intersection to the top of the back waistband. Smooth the fabric gently without stretching.
On one leg, locate a point 1 inch (2.5 cm) below the crotch along the inseam. Measure straight across to the outer edge. Record the width once.
From the crotch, measure 13 inches (33 cm) down the inseam. At that point, measure straight across the leg. Use this same location even if the jeans have a different knee shape.
Unroll the cuff completely. Measure across one finished leg opening, edge to edge. This is the garment opening, not your ankle circumference.
Follow the inside leg seam from the crotch intersection to the bottom hem. Keep the tape against the seam. For a shorter finish, measure to the desired new hem instead.
These are optional supporting measurements, taken over close-fitting clothing. Stand naturally. Keep the tape comfortably against your body without tightening it. Ask someone to help with waist-to-floor.
Measure around the level where you want the waistband to sit. Tell us whether this is your natural waist or a lower position.
Measure around the fullest part of your seat with the tape level all the way around.
Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh, keeping the tape level.
Measure around the widest part of your calf.
Measure around your ankle just above the ankle bones. This is body information, not a requested hem width.
Barefoot, measure down your side from your intended waistband position to the floor. This is not the inseam; do not subtract a rise measurement from it.
Leave it blank and tell us what you need help with. We will review the measurements, fabric and fit together before confirming your quote. Do not add seam allowance or extra room to your numbers; describe your preferred fit separately.
